Ride Smart: Why Safety and Legality Matter at Vietnam Equestrian Club

[HERO] Ride Smart: Why Safety and Legal Registration Matter for Horse Riding in Vietnam

Hey everyone! We are so stoked to see how fast horseback riding in Vietnam is growing. It feels like every week we meet more people who are absolutely falling in love with these incredible animals. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, there is something truly magical about connecting with a horse and seeing the beautiful landscapes of Da Nang and Hoi An from the saddle. But, because the sport is still so new here, we really need to talk about something super important: safety and why choosing a legally registered stable is a total game-changer for your experience.

The truth is, horse riding in Vietnam doesn't have a lot of formal structure or big government regulations yet. It’s a bit like the Wild West out there right now! Because there aren't strict "horse laws" in place, we’ve seen a lot of illegal, tourist-run operations popping up all over the place. These spots might look okay on Instagram, but behind the scenes, there is zero accountability. If something goes wrong, or if a horse isn't being treated right, there’s no one to answer for it. That’s why we’re so passionate about doing things the right way at Vietnam Equestrian Club (VEC).

Why being a legally registered business actually matters

You might be thinking, "Hey, I just want to ride a horse, why do I care about paperwork?" We totally get it! But being a legally registered Vietnamese business means we are here for the long haul. We aren't a pop-up shop that’s going to disappear tomorrow. We have a real commitment to our community, our staff, and, most importantly, our riders.

Most of those illegal spots run by tourists don’t have insurance. Like, none at all. If you’re riding at a place that isn't registered, you are taking a massive risk. At VEC, we’ve put in the work to make sure we are fully compliant with Vietnamese law. We want you to feel totally relaxed when you’re with us, knowing that we’ve taken every precaution to keep you safe. We don't take shortcuts because we actually care about the future of horses in Vietnam. We are building something that lasts, and that starts with being a professional, legal operation.

Our team is trained for your safety

It’s not just about the papers, though! It’s about the people. Because this sport is so fresh in the country, finding experienced horse people can be tough. That’s why we spend so much time training our team. We aren't just handing you a lead rope and saying "good luck." Our instructors are trained specifically to handle the unique challenges of riding in this environment.

We are constantly working on our skills and we are planning to bring in even more international expertise to keep our standards sky-high! We are teaching our team how to read horse body language, how to spot potential issues before they happen, and how to give you the best possible guidance during your lesson. Whether you’re checking out our introduction to horse riding trial lesson or you’re an experienced pro, our team is there to make sure everything goes smoothly. We are really excited about how much our local staff is learning, they are becoming total experts!

Safety gear isn't optional (and it shouldn't be!)

We see it all the time on social media: people riding horses in flip-flops or without helmets. It honestly makes our hearts sink a little! Horseback riding in Vietnam is an adventure sport, and like any adventure, you need the right gear. At Vietnam Equestrian Club (VEC), we insist on safety gear for everyone, especially the kiddos.

We provide high-quality helmets and we make sure they actually fit right. A helmet that’s sliding around your face isn't going to do much! We are adding new gear to our shop all the time because we want our riders to have access to the best stuff. For the little ones, safety is our absolute number one priority. We are currently running some amazing advanced kids packages where we teach them not just how to ride, but how to be safe around horses on the ground too. It’s all about building a solid foundation of respect and safety from day one.

Happy horses make for safe rides

One thing people don't always realize is that a horse's behavior is directly linked to how they are treated and cared for. If a horse is stressed, hungry, or in pain, they are much more likely to be unpredictable. This is a huge issue with some of those fly-by-night tourist operations. They often don't have the knowledge or the resources to properly care for their horses in Vietnam.

At VEC, our horses are part of the family! We are so proud of how healthy and happy our herd is. We are working with specialized vets and nutritionists to make sure every horse gets exactly what they need. We have plenty of space for them to roam, and we make sure they get lots of downtime. A happy horse is a calm horse, and a calm horse is a safe horse for you to ride. We even have specific categories for our stallions and mares so you can learn more about the different personalities in our stable. We are really excited to show you how much love goes into our horse care!

Professional facilities vs. "The Street"

Riding a horse down a busy road might look cool for a second, but it’s actually super dangerous, especially in Vietnam where traffic can be… well, a little chaotic! That’s why we’ve invested so much into our professional facilities. We have secure, enclosed arenas where you can learn the ropes without having to worry about a motorbike zooming past and startling your horse.

Our training arena is designed to give you a controlled environment to build your confidence. And when you’re done riding, we are really excited that you can actually chill in comfort too, because we are building the whole vibe around safe adventures and easy downtime!

We are also adding new features to our grounds all the time! We are currently working on improving our trail paths and we are planning some pretty epic trail horseback riding routes that stay away from the hustle and bustle. When you ride with a legally registered club like VEC, you’re paying for a safe, maintained environment that’s been built specifically for equestrian sports.

What we are planning for the future

We are just getting started! We have so many big dreams for VEC and for the equestrian community in Vietnam. We are working on setting up more private events and weddings because, let’s be honest, horses make everything more magical. We are also adding a BBQ and food services package so you can hang out and enjoy the vibe after your ride.

We are really excited to be part of the solution when it comes to safety and regulation. We want to set the standard for what horse riding in Vietnam should look like. By choosing Vietnam Equestrian Club (VEC), you aren't just getting a ride: you’re supporting a team that cares about the law, the animals, and your well-being. We are so grateful for all the support we’ve received so far, and we can’t wait to see you at the stables soon!

Whether you’re looking for beach horseback riding or just want to hang out with some cool animals, make sure you do it the smart way. Ask questions, check for registration, and always put safety first. We are here to help you every step of the way!

Stay tuned for me!
